Dear Friends of the Blackwater,

I hope this message finds all of you well. Unfortunately, it is not under the most wonderful circumstances that I bid you greetings. I must let you know that due to the poor economic conditions of the last eighteen months and downright dire conditions since September, the Blackwater Grille will not be renewing our lease. The Blackwater’s last day of service was Saturday, February 28, 2009.

During our last two weeks many of you joined us in an ancient Scottish tradition when Blackwater Grille held its final “Gathering of the Clans” where we celebrated YOU, our great friends – and our beloved staff who have been so loyal and nothing short of family. We thank you for your support and will always cherish our times together.

It was a dream that lead to the formation of Blackwater. Our successes were mountain-top experiences and we became the only restaurant in North Carolina to win the “Best Dish Award” two years consecutively. Every day was a joy and we will always be grateful to you for making this adventure possible.

In the words of our Scottish ancestors, “Lang may yer lum reek!” (“May you live long and stay well!”)
